Nonin Medical, Inc., the inventor of fingertip pulse oximetry and an innovator of noninvasive physiological monitoring solutions, today announced that Mark VanderWerf, Nonin’s Vice President of eHealth, has been elected to the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) College of Fellows. Election to the College is a high honor that recognizes significant achievements in telemedicine, in addition to service to the ATA and the general telemedicine community. Nonin Medical made the announcement at the ATA 16th Annual Meeting and Exposition in Tampa, Florida, where the company is demonstrating its eHealth solutions at Booth 306.

“I am honored to be elected to the ATA College of Fellows,” VanderWerf said. “ATA is the leading international organization promoting the use of advanced remote medical technologies to improve healthcare quality, equity and affordability throughout the world,” said VanderWerf. “I am excited to be in a position to help the association achieve these goals.” The ATA annually elects less than one percent of its current membership as new Fellows. Fellows are appointed to a life-time term.

VanderWerf is a globally recognized speaker, author and thought leader in the telehealth space. A 19-year industry veteran, he is the founder of AMD Global Telemedicine, Inc., the world’s leading supplier of medical devices for telemedicine. VanderWerf is a former board member of the ATA and a founding board member of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth. As Vice President of eHealth for Nonin Medical, VanderWerf is responsible for defining new product and market opportunities while educating customers about the benefits of pulse oximetry for chronic disease management and the advantages of using Nonin eHealth solutions, in particular.
